- Try to "know" your musician! Analysing his style helps a lot understanding his drumkit settings. Memorize the monitor mix to be able to keep the sound right and comfortable during the show. Once the final tuning is found, it's helpful to write down the key of each drum to reproduce the tuning. Of course being a drummer yourself enhances your ability of understanding the way of thinking and drumming of your musician.
